SEND Teaching Assistant and Midday Supervisor (1:1)

  • Based at Haselbury Plucknett Primary School
  • Fixed term contract, in the first instance, 1st September 2024 until 31st August 2025
  • TA role – 27.5 hours per week, 8:45am – 3:15pm daily: Grade 15 – 14 depending on experience – term time only. Paid weeks: 43.3167 weeks per year. Working weeks: 38 weeks per year. (Up to 6 x INSETs may be required as additional hours)
  • MDSA role – 2.5 hours per week, 12:15pm – 12:45pm daily: Grade 16 – term time only. Paid weeks: 47.79 weeks per year. Working weeks: 38 weeks per academic year, excluding INSET Days.

We are seeking to appoint an experienced, enthusiastic and flexible Teaching Assistant to support teaching staff within the Merriott & Haselbury Plucknett Primary Schools Federation. This post is a fixed term contract, in the first instance, until 31st August 2025. Our school is a friendly and inclusive rural school at the centre of the village community.

The successful candidate will support the class teacher by:

  • Supporting learning through an Individualised Curriculum under the direction of the class teacher.
  • Teaching learning sequences through a range of approaches.
  • Adapting to the needs of individual pupil.
  • Understanding of breaking down tasks into manageable chunks.
  • Maintaining targets on Individual Pupil Passports.
  • Assisting with access to a broader curriculum.
  • Planning and delivering intervention programmes to develop core skills of literacy and numeracy.
  • Implementing a flexible approach within the Learning Environment.
  • Knowledge/experience of working with moderate learning difficulties would be desirable.

  • Have recent and relevant Teaching Assistant experience.
  • Have the knowledge and understanding to ensure children including disadvantaged and SEND pupils make good progress.
  • Be able to relate effectively with learners and adults.
