The Governors are seeking to appoint a creative and passionate individual who is committed to helping all children to ‘climb to their highest’ with their work in governance support. The ability to be proactive and to make a positive contribution to our enthusiastic team is essential. We are a Church of England federation and are seeking someone who will be sympathetic to our ethos and promote the values in our mission statement. The Governors of the Valley Partnership, a federation between Webber’s and Burlescombe Church of England Primary Schools, are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and hardworking clerk to governors. This position is permanent for 5 hours per week, for 40 weeks per year, to include training days with our staff team.

Previous clerking experience would be an advantage and fluency and accuracy in typing is essential. You will need to be proficient using ICT systems and have home access to the internet.  The successful candidate will also be required to advise the Governors on latest updates from national and local authority as well as support them in completing their work through their policies and rolling programme schedules. Excellent listening skills and a professional manner are also important as you may represent the Governors at key meetings. You will be required to attend evening meetings alternating between both schools which are near the Devon/Somerset border, within easy access of the M5 and North Devon link road.

Training can be given but the successful candidate will be self-motivated in their own professional development through appropriate reading and research.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a dedicated team, in a supportive and caring learning environment as you will work closely with the administration team and the Executive Headteacher.  Please telephone the school office on 01823 6725121 and you can arrange to talk to the Senior Administrator/Executive Headteacher.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. An enhanced DBS disclosure is required for this post along with the relevant pre-employment checks.

Please apply on the county application form available from the Devon Jobs website:  Applications are required electronically, replying to the clerk administration email address:

We are really looking forward to receiving your application.
