The Filo Project is a not-for-profit social enterprise offering high quality small group day care for older people across Devon and South Somerset. Our service is primarily for those who are socially isolated and may also be experiencing symptoms associated with early to moderate dementia, including memory loss. Small groups give the time and space for people to feel at ease and form friendships. We are looking for more hosts who are willing to welcome small groups of older people into their own homes in all areas of Somerset.
Living well with dementia is dependent on others working well with dementia. We are looking for intelligent, versatile and empathetic hosts to meet this brief. You will be required, in your own homes, to meaningfully occupy and engage with a maximum of 4 older people who may be socially isolated and experiencing symptoms associated with moderate dementia, including memory loss. The Filo service operates between the core hours of 9am and 5pm and during the day you will be required to prepare and provide a cooked lunch for clients. It is essential that you have a full driving license and can comfortably transport four clients in your own car.
Experience is not necessary but what you must possess or be is; a good listener, gentle, able to ‘read’ people well, a creative thinker, a creative linker, sense of humour, understanding, good general knowledge, a willingness and an openness to learn from clients.
In the first instance please visit https://www.thefiloproject.co.uk/work-with-us/ and complete the application form. We will then contact you.
Closing date is open as we recruit on a rolling basis dependent on need.
