About us

It is a great time to join us in Somerset!

We have changed the way we work to focus on promoting independence for everyone – so that people can do the things that matter most to them and live the life they want to live.

We are doing things differently to put the person at the centre of everything we do and to look creatively at how we can meet people’s needs in a better way.

If you work for us we will give you the freedom to be innovative, to influence change and to really touch people’s lives – you can Do it your way.

About the job

We are currently looking for Occupational Therapists to fill the following exciting posts:

Housing – working closely with our housing providers and district councils you will support people to access Housing Options which will improve their health and wellbeing and maximise their independence. You will have a good knowledge of complex adaptations and the Disabled Facility grant process. Supporting people through relocation, advising on new build developments, working on assistive technology solutions for supported living, influencing changes in policy and practice – the role is varied and challenging and requires an OT with drive and passion. One of four dedicated posts across the county our vacancy is based in our Sedgemoor office covering the coastal area of the county.

Health Interface Service – working as part of the multi-disciplinary team based in The Bungalow with the integrated discharge team at Musgrove Park Hospital, you will work with people and their families discharged from the hospital on a reablement/discharge to assess pathway back to their own home. Getting people out of hospital and assessed in their own homes instead of on a hospital ward provides a much better understanding of their abilities and needs. You will be responsible for devising reablement plans to maximise their independence, setting personalised goals with them, and for the reablement providers to work on. You will advise on creative solutions and utilise assistive technology to help people return and remain at home. You will work closely with community and voluntary organisations, providers, as well as health and social care professionals to provide better outcomes for people.

Community Occupational Therapist – As a strong team player you will be dedicated to supporting people at home to maximise their independence and live fulfilling lives. Working in the local community team alongside social care workers you will find creative solutions for a range of client groups. We have a formal programme of induction and CPD get you up and running in your new post, with ongoing support from a dedicated Learning & development team. We are constantly looking at new ways of working and there are exciting opportunities for those who wish to embrace the challenge!

About you

For both of these posts we are looking for Occupational Therapists who are not afraid to do things differently to create support that is better for people.

You will need to be:

  • A qualified Occupational Therapist who is HCPC registered
  • Innovative
  • Motivated and passionate
