About the job

You will have the freedom to design services, make the changes you want and really touch people’s lives – you can Do it your way.

The Principal Social Worker will strategically identify, develop, improve and embed social work practice across Somerset.

You will have the opportunity to design and shape practice, and create unique new ways of working.

You will engage and work directly with people who use services, carers, and with relevant other professionals to enhance practice. You will advise on professional practice within a fast moving social care environment and be able to influence at all levels.

You will identify national guidelines and practice that can improve practice in Somerset as well as influence and be involved in developing national practice.

You will ensure that the promoting independence model of working is embedded in all practice.

You will enjoy the challenge and variety of working with managers and staff across all areas of the council, including mental health and learning disability teams.
