About the job
We currently have vacancies at various locations across the county for Social Workers with experience in the following areas:
Safeguarding – working with children and their families where there are children in need or in receipt of a child protection plan.
Assessment – undertaking single assessments of children and families at the point of referral.
Joining our Children’s Social Care teams as a Social Worker, it will be your responsibility to assess and safeguard the needs of vulnerable children in our community and in our care. Through pro-active, multi-agency working you’ll work with a range of service providers, facilitating the provision of a needs-led service and creating positive outcomes. We’ll look to you to ensure all services are child focused, using a range of therapeutic skills and interventions to make sure that children reach their potential.
We have a commitment to reduce fieldwork caseloads down to an average of 14, which is fewer than many other local authorities. This will allow you to focus more time on individual cases and be more involved in delivering a higher level of service.
Educated to degree level, in a recognised Social Care qualification, alongside registration with the HCPC, you’ll have demonstrable experience in the field, with a natural commitment to maintaining and expanding your social work knowledge and skills. You’ll have excellent interpersonal and communication skills allowing you to efficiently work in partnership with other agencies and teams. Alongside this, you’ll have excellent time keeping and a keen eye for detail, as you ensure accurate reports and information are kept. A valid UK driving licence is required, as you will need to travel to different locations in order to undertake the duties of the role.
