Captivating Computing Teacher?

Required for September 2020:

Full-time

This position would be an ideal opportunity for those new to teaching and NQTs are encouraged to apply.

Our aspiration is to be great in all that we do.  Are you a great teacher & leader or aspire to be one?  If so, Preston School is the right school for you!

We are a Business & Enterprise Academy that aspires to embody our strapline of ‘Bringing Learning to Life & Life to Learning’ for every student every day. We place a large emphasis on the development of character and personality of our students, alongside a relentless drive for improving progress in all of the subjects that they study.

We aim to be GREAT in everything that we do. Our student body are wonderful to work with and visitors to the school regularly comment upon the great learning environment within the school, personified by the excellent relationships between students and staff.  We firmly believe in the core BASICs that the students are asked to follow, and we recognise that teaching is made easier when students are engaged with their learning – as ours are. There is excellent support for all staff at the school and the successful candidate would be well-nurtured as we work towards making Preston School even greater.

Computing & Computer Science are popular subjects at Preston that complement our Business & Enterprise specialisms. It is an exciting time to teach in the department as we increase the number of specialist teachers to cope with the large demand at KS4. All students study two hours of Computing a fortnight, covering topics such as Digital Graphic Manipulation, Python Programming and Website Design. In our three year Key Stage 4, students can opt for either the OCR Creative iMedia course or OCR Computer Science. Both are popular option choices.

We are looking for an innovative Teacher of Computing with the vision and drive to deliver the outstanding outcomes that our students deserve. The successful candidate will have the ability deliver Computing to KS3 and KS4. The ability to deliver Computer Science at GCSE would be beneficial. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, motivated and talented teacher who is looking to make a difference in this exciting role.

We would love to receive your application if you are:

  • passionate about teaching Computing and aspire for Preston School to be GREAT
  • dedicated to enhancing the learning and lives of our students
  • ambitious with high expectations of all, including yourself
  • an excellent team member with the capacity to work across the department & the school
  • committed to continually improving as a teacher
